Much of the news in the February 2026 release notes for Adobe Marketo Engage focused on its Email Designer tool, which debuted early last year.
But among the deprecations listed in the February 2026 release notes was the Marketo SEO feature. It will be deprecated as of March 31, 2026, and users who want to export their data must do so by that date. (You can find links to export instructions on this page.)
The SEO tile will disappear from Marketo Engage effective April 1, 2026. What happened?
Adobe’s Keith Gluck said deprecating features with low usage allows the Marketo Engage team to focus its efforts on other areas of the platform. As for the SEO needs of users, Adobe announced in 2025 that it was acquiring Semrush, a full-featured SEO and visibility tool. (Reminder: Semrush owns Third Door Media, the publisher of MarTech.)
The deprecation came as no surprise to people who follow Marketo news closely. Reports suggest that few people fully configured the SEO tool to begin with, and its features didn’t seem to be a priority for the Market Engage product team in recent years.
With LLMs rapidly changing the search landscape, it was time to bid it goodbye. The arrival of Semrush into the Adobe family provided the perfect opportunity.
Updates to the Marketo Engage Email Designer
The team at Adobe enthusiastically supports the Marketo Engage Email Designer and it’s widely used by Marketo users. There were three announcements regarding the Email Designer in the February 2026 release notes.
- The ability to manage brand content: Adobe announced a beta that lets users generate email content aligned with their organization/brand’s specific copywriting guidelines.
- Brand Quality Checker: Users can assess general content quality to identify potential issues with readability, content cohesiveness and effectiveness, independent of their brand guidelines.
- AI -assisted image generation: In addition to Adobe Firefly, Marketo Engage users can use Google’s Nano Banana models to generate images with the AI Assistant for email content.
